Voter registration deadline
Wednesday, October 7, 2026If you register by mail, your form must be postmarked by this date. In person, the cutoff is 5 p.m., or later if the registration office normally closes later.
Tuesday, October 20 to Monday, November 2, 2026Any registered voter can vote absentee in person without an excuse during these two weeks, at a location set by the local election authority. Bring an acceptable photo ID. Locations and hours vary by county, and the last day ends at 5 p.m.
Received by your local election authority by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026This deadline covers requests sent by mail, fax, or email. Voting absentee by mail requires one of the excuses allowed by state law, and your completed ballot must be received by your local election authority by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Tuesday, November 3, 2026, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.If you are in line at 7 p.m., you can still vote. Bring an acceptable photo ID; registered voters without one can cast a provisional ballot.

Every paid political ad is labeled "Paid political advertisement" and carries the buyer's "Paid for by" line. Campaigns and committees from any side can buy one at the same published rates, and that includes people I've criticized.
I can turn down an ad that's false or hateful, or one made to look like an official election notice. Each political ad I accept goes in the public ledger below with the buyer, the committee or FEC ID, the amount and the run dates.
